“How exactly do I go viral on TikTok?”
It’s a question that I get from clients and colleagues ALL the time, and for good reason.
Viral posts can change the trajectory of your business overnight. Here are a few tips that I follow to help give both my TikToks and my clients the best chance to go viral (See a great example of how these tips helped us go viral here).
You need to start your TikToks with a hook in the first couple of seconds to grab those serial scrollers’ attention. Getting somebody to stop scrolling and watch is half the battle with the oversaturated market of social media. Ask yourself the question: “How is this video going to be unique and stand out from all other content a user is seeing today?” The hook that sets your video apart can be spoken or visual – use your best judgement depending on the type of content you’re creating.
Having text within your video content in 2022 is a MUST. A lot of users scroll through TikTok without their sound on, so having text on the screen is a great way to get them to watch your content regardless of sound. Using Search Engine Optimization Keywords in your text will help your content be pushed out to a wider audience.
Putting a trending sound behind your video or using a trend you’ve seen going around on the TikTok app is another way to get your TikTok in front of more eyeballs.
One little thing that a lot of people don’t consider when posting video content is hashtag strategy. Hashtags allow you to reach the specific niche of people you’re trying to speak to. Using 2-3 hashtags in your niche with under 2 million uses can help keep your TikTok from getting lost in the scroll.
Post. Post. Post! Posting consistently is so crucial. You can’t post one TikTok every couple of weeks and expect to go viral (though we do occasionally see it happen). The more content you post, the more likely you are to have a video skyrocket in views.
I hope you all are able to implement these tips and grow! And if you’re ready to take the next step with a more in-depth TikTok and social media strategy, apply to work with us on our services page here.
