When 2022 began, I decided that this year was going to be my year in business. Sure, creating New Year’s resolutions can be considered cliché and ineffective, but I’ve found that being extremely intentional with the things I want to achieve has helped me hone in on what’s important in my business.
I like to think of business quarters as stepping stones to reach my big, yearly goals. Here are some of those things I learned in Q1 of 2022.
This lesson could be a whole blog post in and of itself. Ever heard people say that there are people out there that are LESS talented than you in your field succeeding because they had the courage to follow their dreams? I’ve been reminding myself of this every day and it does wonders for my imposter syndrome. I know I’m not going to get to the places I want to be without first believing that I’m worthy enough to get there.
When I first started my business in August of 2020, I was still in college finishing up my degree. Then, a few months after graduating, I got engaged to my husband and immediately began wedding planning. Long story short, there are seasons in your life that will make it impossible to completely put your head down and just grind, and that’s okay. This is the first time in my business where there are no big-time commitments happening around me, so I’m taking advantage of this time to go full force in achieving my goals (and having a lot of fun doing it).
This quote gives me the chills. As a perfectionist, I am constantly comparing myself to my business connections and trying to reach their levels of success. Because of this, the work that I’m doing day in and day out never seems to be good enough. When I reframed my attitude around this in Q1, I started to see myself achieve a LOT more. This is a marathon, not a race, so however long it takes me to get to where I want to be will be worth it in the end.
